Technical Fibre Products Limited is a 100% owned subsidiary company of the James Cropper PLC Holding Company, which also owns James Cropper Speciality Papers and other related subsidiaries. Technical Fibre Products Ltd. now operates under the name "James Cropper Advanced Materials". 
All have their company HQ’s and main manufacturing plants adjacent to each other at the same site at Burneside Mill, north of Kendal. James Cropper paper manufacturers established Technical Fibre Products in 1986 to diversify into the development and manufacture of high value specialist materials.

Technical Fibre Products Ltd. also has sites in Crewe (UK), and Schenectady, NY (USA).

The James Cropper paper manufacturing company at Burneside Mill was established in 1845 by James Cropper (1823 – 1900) who was from a prominent and wealthy Quaker and Abolitionist family and has been owned and run by the Cropper family ever since. The current Chairman of James Cropper plc. is Mark Cropper (born 1974), who is the sixth generation of the Cropper family to run the business.

Mark Cropper is the son of Sir James Cropper KCRVO, Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria (born 1938), who he succeeded as chairman of James Cropper plc in 2010, after first joining the board in 2006. Ownership: The closely related Cropper, Willink and Acland families hold 38.7% of James Cropper PLC shares, with the Cropper family itself holding 33.3%, as of April 2023.
