Stop F35 exports to Israel
From Burneside to Gaza
What does the war in Gaza have to do with James Cropper?
James Cropper Advanced Materials (formerly Technical Fibre Products, a subsidiary of James Cropper plc) produces parts for F35 warplanes, which are being used by Israel in their war on Gaza. Israel already has two squadrons of F35s, and has ordered 25 more.

What do we want James Cropper plc to do?
We are calling on James Cropper Advanced Materials to end their supply of materials for F35 production.
We are asking chairman Mark Cropper to take steps to end this contract, and to protect people’s jobs and livelihoods by finding alternative markets for James Cropper Advanced Materials.

How is this related to us as workers and residents of Burneside?
James Cropper plc has a long history in the area. For generations, the business has provided jobs, helped support the natural environment, and supported community initiatives in the area. However, we believe that the continued involvement in F35 production undermines this legacy.
We believe that with community pressure from residents and workers of South Lakeland, James Cropper plc can be convinced to do the right thing and both protect jobs and end involvement in F35 production.

Why should we stop exporting weapons to Israel?
Following Hamas' killings and kidnapping on October 7th last year, the Israeli Defence Forces have killed over 30,000 people, including more than 12,000 children. At least half of Gaza’s residential buildings have been destroyed.
The International Court of Justice has ruled that the current war on Gaza plausibly amounts to a case of genocide.
In a separate case, the Dutch courts have blocked the delivery of parts for F35 fighter aircraft to Israel due to the risk of their use in breaking international law.
15% of the parts for F35s are made in Britain.

Why is this an issue for workers at James Cropper plc?
The coalition of Palestinian Trade Unions has called on trade unions around the world:
• To refuse to build weapons destined for Israel
• To refuse to transport weapons to Israel
• To take action against complicit companies involved in implementing Israel's brutal and illegal siege
• To pressure governments to stop all military trade with Israel

International solidarity can work: Since the start of the war, dockers in Barcelona have refused to load and unload Israeli military equipment, while in Belgium transport workers have taken similar action.

Unite senior reps involved in defence agreed a statement which includes the following advice: "We want to ensure that our members are not targeted or blamed for what is happening in this conflict. If any of our members have concerns, questions or feel unsafe in relation to their job and the products they are involved with, please contact your Unite reps for advice and support."
If you feel that you cannot work on products or processes used in the genocide in Gaza then please contact your union rep or email: workers-in-arms@troublemakersat.work for advice.
